From finding a host to exploring a city — four simple steps.
Find your local host
Browse host profiles in your destination city. Filter by interests — art, food, nightlife, history, architecture. Read honest reviews from past travellers.
Each host profile shows their specialty, hourly rate, average rating, and a bio written by the host themselves. You'll know who you're meeting before you meet them.
Chat and plan together
Message your host directly inside the app. Tell them what you're into, ask questions, suggest ideas. Agree on a time, a meeting point, and a rough plan.
No rigid itinerary. The plan evolves through conversation. Some travellers come with a list, others come with just an attitude. Both work.
Confirm and pay securely
Once you've agreed on a plan, confirm the booking. Payment is held by Trovi until after the meeting — so both parties are protected.
Hosts only receive payment after a meeting is confirmed complete. You're never charged for a no-show.
Meet, explore, experience
Meet your host at the agreed point. They'll show you a QR code to confirm the meeting — then you explore together for as long as you planned.
After the meeting, you can rate your host and leave a review. Reviews build trust for future travellers.
Safety first
Meeting a stranger in a foreign city is only comfortable when the infrastructure around it is trustworthy. Here's ours.
Identity verification
Every host goes through identity verification before they can accept bookings. You always know who you're meeting.
Secure in-app payments
No cash. No bank transfers. Payments go through Trovi and are held until after the meeting completes.
QR code meetup confirmation
At the meetup point, your host generates a unique QR code. Scanning it confirms the meeting is happening and records the time and location.
Review system
Every completed meeting earns a review from both sides. Reviews are the backbone of trust on Trovi.
In-app support
If anything goes wrong before, during, or after a meeting — our support team is reachable directly in the app.
Common questions
Is the first meeting really free? ▼
Yes. Your first Trovi meeting costs nothing. We want you to experience the platform before committing to a paid booking.
What happens if my host cancels? ▼
If a host cancels a confirmed booking, you are fully refunded. We also flag repeated cancellations and take action against hosts who cancel without good reason.
Can I cancel a booking? ▼
You can cancel up to 24 hours before a meeting for a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours may incur a partial charge — see our cancellation policy for full details.
Are hosts professional tour guides? ▼
Not necessarily — and that's intentional. Trovi hosts are residents who love their city. They don't read from scripts. They show you their real daily life.
