Meet Lisbon with a local
Lisbon is one of Europe’s most atmospheric cities — and one of the most misunderstood. Tourists see the trams and the viewpoints. Locals know the real Lisbon is in the conversations over ginjinha, the fado sung in a back-alley bar, and the community gardens hidden in the hills.
Our Trovi hosts are Lisbonites who want to share the city they love — not the postcard version, but the real one.
Local tips
Pastéis de Belém is the original pastel de nata bakery — arrive before 10am to avoid queues.
Tram 28 is scenic but crowded. Locals use the metro or walk the hills.
Bairro Alto comes alive after 10pm. Most bars don't charge entry — just buy a drink.
Authentic fado houses in Alfama are small, intimate, and reservations-only. Avoid tourist fado restaurants.
Watch your pockets on Tram 28 — it's a known pickpocket route.
