Trovi started as a hackathon project. The idea: what if you could meet the right local in any city — someone who'd actually show you the city they live in, not a scripted tour?
Our mission
Trovi's mission is to make travel more authentic, more social, and more accessible — by connecting curious travellers with local residents who love sharing their city.
Every major city in the world has millions of people who'd make extraordinary hosts — people who know the hidden bars, the locals-only beaches, the neighbourhood where the real food scene is. They just don't have a platform to connect with the travellers who want exactly that.
We're building that platform. And we think it'll change the way a generation travels.
Why we built this
The travel industry hasn't fundamentally changed in twenty years. You can book cheaper flights and better hotels than ever, but the experience of being in a city still depends on either expensive organised tours or the luck of meeting the right person at a hostel bar.
Airbnb Experiences was a step in the right direction — but it's premium-priced, over-formatted, and losing the authenticity it started with. The platforms that are more authentic (Couchsurfing, Showaround) don't have the safety infrastructure that young travellers expect.
Trovi sits in the gap: authentic local experiences, with the safety and payment infrastructure that makes them trustworthy. Priced for students and digital nomads, not premium travel packages.
The team
Trovi was built by a small team of student developers and designers who came together for a hackathon and kept going. We're based in Poland, with an eye on Europe.
We're early. We're building. And we believe the best way to discover a city is still to find the right person to show it to you.
